This is the second iteration of Timepiece Photo as a website; the reason being SPACE! There just wasn't enough room on the original for all the work I want to share.
I started Timepiece in the late 80's and uploaded my 1st site in '88. It languished for several years and was discontinued for several more. During that time I was working in the construction trades, primarily as a housepainter. 'Had no time to actually "operate" as a photographer except in "spare time".
In '02 I met my BFF and in '04 had the great good fortune to marry her. Twenty one days after our wedding "my head blew up!" That is, I had an aneurism burst and cost me my whole right side.
Once I got well into my recovery, and at my BFF's suggestion, I rebuilt and re-published TimepiecePhoto.com. It consisted entirely of slides and I had no way to add to it as sifting thru bags and boxes of slides was physically too demanding w/only one side of me working.
In (I think) '07 we were going to a concert in DC (Clapton as I recall) and had a bit of time to kill before catching th' subway into town. My Sweetie steered me into a camera store and as I stood watching, asked a salesman if digital cameras could be operated w/one hand. My ol' Nikon HPFT was beyond me; no way could I ever drive that one-handed w/all the tiny controls.
On recieving an affirmative reply, she started me in shopping. A couple weeks later we went back and bought a Nikon D-80 and I haven't looked back since. I jus' LOVE this digital stuff! I've invested in several different softwares for image processing and one for building websites.
And it's ALL her fault! :O)
The whole purpose of BOTH websites is a celebration of the beauty found here in my native Virginia. We truly "have it MADE in Virginia" and we certainly have it beautiful here, as the images I share will attest.
Some of these slides are of the old wooden workboats, "shoved up a gut" and left to go back to nature, or to ROT, to use the technical term. But I try to present them in such a way as to memorialise them as a dying breed. They served long and well and I hate to think of there not being any left.
And besides the old boats there is just SO MUCH natural beauty here that I HAVE to "capture" it as best I can for sharing.
Certainly, I want to make a loose dollar here an' there; that's why I have a shopping cart on both sites. But the PRIMARY purpose will always be sharing. Browsers and casual viewing are fully encouraged. I WANT visitors, not just customers!
So look your eyes sore, and come back often.

As a bit of an addendum, I'm told I should have a "Privacy Statement" on the site. So here it is: Any customer of Timepiece Photo may rest assured that your info, given on the Order Page, will remain private. I will NEVER use that info to spam you, or scam you, or in any way disturb you. I don't even send out "notice of up-date" messages. 'Seems to me that, once you've found me, you'll KNOW to watch for up-dates, assuming you're interested. And if not, your info is still safe.
